বাংলা ভাষা দিবস উপলক্ষ্যে ২০১৯

এ ভাষায় গা ভাসায় যারা ,
মনের এ মূলে দেয় নাড়া।
বলে খোল  দোর  গৃহবাসী ,
আয় চলে এই রঙে ভাসি।
এ ভাষায় বলে যারা কথা ,
ভাঙে সব স্তব্ধ নীরবতা।

I've known rivers :
I've known rivers ancient as the world
                                        and older than

The flow of human blood in human veins .

My soul has grown deep like the rivers .

I bathed in the Euphrates when dawn were young.
I built my hut near the Congo and it lulled me to sleep .
I looked upon the Nile and raised the pyramids above it .

I heard the singing of the Mississippi when Abe Lincoln
    went down to New Orleans and  I've seen it's muddy
    blossom  turn golden in the sunset .

I've known  rivers
Ancient dusky rivers

My soul has grown deep like the river .

কৃষ্ণকায় বলে নদীর কথা
......................................

আমি তো নদীকে চিনি ----
আমি তো নদীকে চিনি পুরাতন পৃথিবীর মতো ,
আমি তো নদীকে চিনি পুরাতন মানুষের রক্তের চেয়ে।

আমার জীবনাত্মা গভীর হোয়েছে ওই নদীদের মতো।

আমি তো সেরেছি স্নান ইউফ্রেটিসের বুকে শেষ কোরে কেলি।
যখন প্রভাত ছিলো নতুন যুবার মতো তেজী ,
আমি তো বেঁধেছি বাসা কঙ্গো নদীর  তীরে  , ঘুমিয়েছি মধুর বাতাসে।
আমি তো দেখেছি নীল নদীর গভীর দৃষ্টি , বানিয়েছি পিরামিড তাতে।
আমি তো শুনেছি গান মিসিসিপি নদীটির যখন ওই এব লিঙ্কন
নিউ অর্লিন্সে এসে খুলে দিয়েছিলো তার বুকভরা সোনা।
দেখেছি তো তার বুক সূর্যাস্তের মতো লাল।

আমি তো নদীকে চিনি
ধূসর প্রাচীন নদী

আমার জীবনাত্মা গভীর হয়েছে ওই নদীদের মতো।
